Brent “Franklin” Abbot

Brent Abbott has been throwing for 34 years, starting in 1991. In that time he's shown not only his increasing aptitude for the sport but his passion for it through supporting and inspiring others to succeed themselves. He has competed in several Masters World Championships since 2003 in which he took home two  Championships and countless 2nds. Brent has also competed in six different countries other than the US and has held world records in sheaf, light hammer, wob and heavy wfd.

He has grown the sport locally and nationally by holding practices, organizing and aiding clinics, being an AD, and being available in-person, online, and over the phone for those who have asked for help and trains friends and family on his property and indoor throwing facility. Brent and wife Gretchen host a yearly games on their property every Memorial Day weekend.

Brent started throwing while researching his Scottish ancestry. His wife Gretchen, daughter Kirstie and son-in-law Jason all throw as well and also run games and clinics. Brent hopes, one day, his grandchildren will become 3rd generation throwers. He is proud to take part of his heritage along with his passion for the Highland Games and loves more when he can help others find and grow that same passion.
