Masters Scottish Heavy Athletics Hall of Fame Nomination: Michelle Crownhart

I am honored to nominate Michelle Crownhart for the MWC Hall of Fame. She is the total warrior: great athlete, great AD, great Judge and great advocate for all masters and women in particular.

Michelle has been throwing in highland games since 1994, when her daughters’ teacher was the AD for Phoenix and was looking for more women. And she has not stopped since then. Her strongest event is the Caber, where she has excelled for years. She was the one of the only ones to turn the cabers in Stuttgart, Germany at the WMC 2018. She is also the 3 time Master Caber Champ at Pleasanton.

She has been Judging since the late 90’s and has traveled the world judging games large and small. Her reputation as a strong and fair judge are well known. She was the first Head Judge for SAAA on the west coast in the early 2000’s. Traveling to Chile, she both threw and judged, assisting to get the games started there.

A force in the Phoenix Highland Games, she became AD in 2014 and continued until 2019. Michelle has also been a force in advocating for masters women and the inclusion of older age groups like the W70+ in her local games, and wherever she goes. She is a Board Member for SMAI and is Past President of SGL, Scottish Games League.
